How to Set Up an XRPL EVM Wallet (Mobile or Desktop)

Your XRPL EVM Wallet Setup Guide
The XRPL EVM is a new Ethereum-compatible sidechain for the XRP Ledger. It brings smart contracts and EVM-based apps to the XRP ecosystem - opening the door to DeFi, NFTs and more.
If you’re interested in exploring the apps being built on XRPL EVM, you’ll need a self-custody EVM wallet to get started.
This guide will walk you through:
- What EVM wallets are
- Why XRPL EVM needs its own wallet
- How to set one up on desktop or mobile
What is an EVM Wallet?
EVM wallets - like MetaMask - are built to support Ethereum-style blockchains. These wallets use Ethereum-compatible address formats and signing methods, making them ideal for accessing dApps and smart contracts on the XRPL EVM sidechain.
With an EVM wallet, you can:
- Send and receive XRP on XRPL EVM (eXRP) and other tokens
- Use smart contracts and DeFi apps built on XRPL EVM
- Connect to dApps like Squid for seamless cross-chain swaps and bridging across XRPL EVM, XRPL, Ethereum, Cosmos, Solana, Bitcoin, and more
Choose Your Setup: Desktop or Mobile
If you're planning to explore XRPL EVM, you'll need a compatible wallet like MetaMask, available on both desktop and mobile.

Why You Need Two Wallets
XRPL and XRPL EVM are separate networks and they don’t use the same wallet formats or infrastructure.
- Your XRPL wallet (like Crossmark or Xaman) is used to hold and manage XRP on the XRP Ledger mainnet.
- Your EVM wallet (like MetaMask) is used for smart contracts, dApps, and assets on XRPL EVM.
To fund your XRPL EVM account, we recommend bridging from the XRP Ledger mainnet - so you’ll also need an XRPL wallet. We suggest setting up both wallets side-by-side if you’re planning to bridge or explore the ecosystem fully.
