The XRPL EVM Sidechain brings Ethereum-style smart contracts to the XRP Ledger ecosystem, and with Squid, you can bridge XRP to the XRPL EVM in just a few clicks.

This guide will walk you through how to connect your wallets, move XRP from XRPL to XRPL EVM, and start using EVM-based apps.

What You’ll Need to Get Started

Before bridging, make sure you have:

• An XRPL wallet (like Xaman or Crossmark) 👉 Set up your XRPL wallet
• Some XRP in your XRPL wallet 👉 Fund and activate your XRPL wallet
• An EVM wallet (like MetaMask) to receive bridged XRP 👉 Set up your XRPL EVM wallet

How to bridge from XRPL to XRPL EVM

For this example, we’ll be bridging native XRP from the XRP Ledger to the XRPL EVM sidechain using Squid.

Step 1 – Select XRPL and XRP as the source chain and token

Go to app.squidrouter.com and click the chain and token dropdown under Pay. Choose XRPL as the source chain and XRP as the token.

Note: You’ll only be able to select XRP if your connected wallet holds a sufficient balance.

Step 2 – Connect your XRPL wallet

Click Connect Wallet next to the Pay field. Select your XRPL wallet and approve the connection.

Your XRPL wallet address will appear once connected.

Step 3 – Select XRPL EVM and XRP as the destination

Now, click the chain and token dropdown under Receive. Choose XRPL EVM as the destination chain and XRP as the token.

This sets up your route from XRP on XRPL → XRP on XRPL EVM.

Step 4 – Connect your XRPL EVM wallet

Click Select Recipient and connect your EVM-compatible wallet (like MetaMask), or paste in your XRPL EVM wallet address directly.

Your XRPL EVM wallet address will be shown under Receive once connected.

Step 5 – Enter the amount to bridge and review your quote

Input the amount of XRP you want to bridge. Squid will calculate the expected amount you’ll receive, along with a full fee breakdown and route details.

If this is your first time, you may be asked to approve token permissions in your wallet.

Step 6 – Confirm and submit your swap

Click Swap and approve the transaction in your XRPL wallet. You’ll be able to track your bridge in real time, and your XRP will arrive on the XRPL EVM sidechain in just a few moments.
